What we consult on

Most engagements start in one of these four areas and touch at least one other. Pick the closest to the decision in front of you - we'll work out the rest together.

Software & architecture

Software Architecture & Technology

Know what to build, buy, modernize, or replace before you commit a team and a budget to executing it.

“Do we extend what we have, replace it, or buy something off the shelf?”

  • Architecture review
  • Build vs. buy
  • Stack and platform selection
  • Modernization roadmap
  • Technical due diligence
AI & automation

AI & Automation Strategy

Identify where AI is useful, feasible, and worth prioritizing - and, just as usefully, where it is not.

“Which of these AI ideas is worth doing first, and is our data ready for it?”

  • Opportunity assessment
  • Data readiness
  • Platform evaluation
  • Automation roadmap
  • Governance requirements
Product & hardware

Product Engineering & Hardware Strategy

Validate the technical path before you commit to a prototype, tooling, certification, or production.

“Can this product actually be built the way we’ve imagined it, at this cost?”

  • Concept feasibility
  • Product architecture
  • Computer-vision strategy
  • Manufacturing readiness
  • Technology roadmap
Transformation

Digital Transformation

Turn disconnected technology initiatives into a prioritized plan with clear dependencies and ownership.

“We have twelve initiatives and no agreement on which three come first.”

  • Current-state assessment
  • Transformation roadmap
  • Modernization sequence
  • Capability planning
  • Success measures

Deliverables

An engagement ends with working documents, not a presentation. The exact set is agreed in writing before we start, so you know what lands on your desk at the end.

  • Findings & risk assessment

A clear account of the current situation, the constraints and dependencies around it, and the risks that matter most.

  • Options & tradeoff matrix

The viable approaches side by side - cost, complexity, maintainability, risk, what your team can realistically run, and strategic fit.

  • Target architecture or solution direction

Diagrams and technical principles describing the recommended future state, and the reasoning that leads there.

  • Prioritized roadmap

Sequenced initiatives with dependencies, milestones, decision gates, and a recommended order of execution.

  • Resource & cost assumptions

The people, capabilities, platforms, and investment the plan assumes - written as assumptions and ranges, not as a quoted final cost.

  • Executive decision summary

A short read for leadership: the recommended direction, why it is recommended, and the decisions that now need to be made.

Where the Advice Comes From

Delivered work the advice comes from. Some of it is a system we built. Some of it, like the inventory at Micropolis, is an operation we went in and put in order.

Micropolis Robotics

Complete Inventory Tracking

We went to Micropolis and organised the inventory in the shop. Stock on hand, weight on the part, material price, and the time it takes to make - print, CNC, lathe, and laser.

How we approach your consulting engagement

3AXIS focuses on understanding your situation before recommending anything, so the plan you receive is one your team can genuinely execute.

  1. Discovery & Diagnosis

We start by understanding the situation rather than proposing a solution to it.

    • Objectives & decision criteria
    • Current systems, product & documentation
    • Constraints & stakeholders
    • Risks in the current state
  2. Options & Recommendations

We compare the approaches that are genuinely viable, and show the working behind each one.

    • Viable options compared
    • Cost & complexity assumptions
    • Risks & organizational impact
    • A recommendation, with reasoning
  3. Roadmap & Decision

The recommendation becomes something your team can pick up and execute against.

    • Priorities & dependencies
    • Milestones & decision gates
    • Named owners
    • Success criteria
  4. Execution Support

Optional, and scoped separately: we can stay involved while the plan is carried out.

    • Architecture reviews
    • Vendor evaluation
    • Technical oversight & checkpoints
    • Course correction
Why 3AXIS

Strategy Grounded in Engineering Reality

Our recommendations are shaped by how systems are actually designed, integrated, deployed, and maintained. We explain the viable options, the tradeoffs between them, and the path we would trust our own team to execute.

  • Practitioner-informed advice

Recommendations shaped by how systems get designed, integrated, deployed, and maintained - not by a framework applied from the outside.

  • Transparent tradeoffs

We explain why we recommend an approach and, just as plainly, what you give up by choosing it.

  • Cross-domain perspective

Software, AI, product engineering, and operations get considered together wherever a decision touches more than one of them.

  • Actionable deliverables

Working documents, decision materials, and plans your team can execute from.

  • Execution continuity

We can stay involved while the recommendation is implemented, if that helps. It is optional and scoped separately.

Tell Us the Decision You Need to Make

Describe the challenge, the options you are considering, and what is making the decision difficult. We'll review the context and tell you whether a focused consulting engagement would help - and what it would cover.

The introductory call is free, and there is no requirement to hire 3AXIS for the implementation.

  • A technical conversation focused on your decision
  • A clear explanation of the engagement scope we would propose
  • Written scope and deliverables agreed before an engagement starts
  • We can sign an NDA before you share anything confidential
  • Consulting can stand alone, or work alongside your internal team

FAQ

Questions worth asking first

Consulting is the work that happens before - or alongside - implementation. We assess the situation, compare the approaches that are actually viable, document the tradeoffs, and produce a plan your team can act on. Implementation is us building it. The two are scoped and priced separately, and taking the consulting engagement commits you to neither.

Yes. A consulting engagement stands on its own. You receive the findings, the options, the recommendation, and the roadmap, and you are free to execute them with your own team, with another supplier, or not at all. If we think someone else is better placed to implement the recommendation, we will say so.

Working documents rather than a presentation: a findings and risk assessment, a comparison of the viable options and their tradeoffs, a recommended target architecture or solution direction, a prioritized roadmap with dependencies and decision gates, the resourcing and cost assumptions behind it, and a short executive summary of the recommended decision and the reasoning for it. The exact set is agreed in writing before the engagement starts.

It depends on what has to be examined, so we don't quote a standard length. The factors that move it most are the scope of the question, the number of systems and stakeholders involved, how well the current state is already documented, how much analysis the questions require, how many options are being compared, which deliverables you want, and how quickly we can get access to your technical team and data. We put the duration in writing after an initial conversation.

We don't publish a rate card, because engagements differ too much for a generic price to mean anything. Fees depend on the scope of the engagement, the specialists it needs, the depth of the technical review, how many workshops and interviews are involved, the deliverables you want, any due-diligence requirements, and whether you want us available during execution afterwards. You get a written scope and fee before anything begins.

Yes, and it is often the better arrangement - your engineers know the system and the constraints, and our role is to bring an outside technical view to the decision. In practice that looks like joining architecture discussions, reviewing designs and code, or acting as a second opinion on a direction your team has already proposed. We are not there to replace or grade your engineers.

Yes. We compare the options against your technical, operational, commercial, and team requirements, document how each one scores and what choosing it would commit you to, and disclose any relevant relationships or constraints on our side. You can hand the result to whichever implementer you choose - including one of the vendors evaluated.

Yes - architecture, codebase, security posture, scalability, and engineering-capability review, under NDA. What we can conclude is bounded by the agreed scope, the information and access the target provides, the time available, and the testing actually performed, and we state those limits in the report itself. Technical due diligence does not replace legal, financial, cybersecurity, or regulatory due diligence, which belong with qualified professionals in those fields.

We operate from Dubai, UAE. We work with clients across the Emirates and the wider GCC, and remotely with clients further afield - keeping working hours that overlap yours and running the project the same way wherever you are.
