Matmak 3D Product Animation

The bumper in the film is a model. The film pattern is drawn on it so a buyer can see the cut before anyone touches the paint.

The brief

Matmak sells advanced precut film. A photograph of a wrapped car shows the result. It does not show the cut: where the piece starts, where it stops, and how it follows the panel.

They needed a film that could carry that, for the product at matmaksolutions.com, including the 14-day trial the brand already runs.

The challenge

Paint-protection film is nearly invisible when it is doing its job. An animation that hides the product is a car advert.

  • A bumper model accurate enough that the pattern reads as a real panel, not a blob
  • The precut itself shown as light, so the film is the subject
  • Bodyfence and Matmak both present, without the type fighting the shot
  • A piece that can sit in a launch, a booth, or the site - one film, several crops

How we approached it

The panel was modelled, then lit so the film pattern is the brightest thing in the frame. The rest of the bumper stays dark. That is the opposite of a beauty shot, and it is the point.

Blender carried the model and the look. Unreal Engine carried the camera and the move, so the pattern can travel the panel instead of sitting in one frame.

What we built

A 3D product film: modelled bodywork, the precut pattern animated across it, and the Matmak and Bodyfence marks held as type rather than baked into a photograph.

The public product remains matmaksolutions.com. This page is the film we made for it, not a claim that we built the storefront.

Results

The film is the asset. We do not publish view counts, trial sign-ups, or a lift we did not measure.

In use

Matmak can recut the same model for the next panel. The pattern changes. The bumper does not have to be rebuilt from a photograph.
