How Much Does Custom Software Development Cost in Dubai?

There is no honest single figure. There are ranges that hold for most projects, and a short list of decisions that determine where in those ranges yours will land.

Indicative ranges

The budgets businesses bring to us run from a few thousand dirhams for a contained fix to well over half a million for a platform a company runs on. The bands below are indicative, not a price list: they describe where most projects of each shape land, in UAE dirhams with the US dollar equivalent.

  • A contained change, integration or automation on an existing system: roughly AED 4,000 to 37,000 (US$1,000 to 10,000)
  • A focused internal tool, or the first version of a new product: roughly AED 37,000 to 185,000 (US$10,000 to 50,000)
  • A business platform with several integrations, or the replacement of a legacy system: roughly AED 185,000 to 550,000 (US$50,000 to 150,000), and more for larger programmes
  • AI and automation projects: similar bands to software, with data preparation as the largest variable
  • Connected hardware products: a wider range, reaching AED 1.1 million (US$300,000) and beyond once prototyping, tooling, certification and a first production run are included
  • Consulting, architecture reviews and delivery planning: roughly AED 7,000 to 220,000 (US$2,000 to 60,000)

What actually moves the number

Hourly rates get the attention in a comparison, but they rarely explain why two quotes differ by a factor of three. Scope decisions do, and most of them are made - or avoided - before anyone writes code.

  • Integrations: every system the software has to talk to, and how well documented it is
  • Data migration: moving years of records out of an old system, cleaning them, and proving nothing was lost
  • User roles and approvals: each distinct role multiplies the permissions, screens and test cases
  • Arabic and English interfaces, including right-to-left layouts, when both are needed from launch
  • Mobile apps alongside the web platform, and whether they need to work offline
  • Compliance requirements such as UAE e-invoicing, audit trails, or data residency in regulated sectors
  • The exceptions: returns, partial payments, cancellations and every other case the happy path does not cover

Fixed price or time and materials

A fixed price suits work whose scope can be written down completely before it starts. It moves risk to the supplier, and the supplier prices that risk in, so a fixed quote for loosely defined work is either padded or heading for change requests.

Time and materials suits work whose requirements will be discovered along the way, which describes most new products. It is cheaper when managed well and more expensive when it is not. A common middle path is a short discovery phase that produces the written scope a dependable fixed quote needs.

Comparing quotes properly

Two quotes are only comparable if they include the same things. Before comparing totals, check what each one actually covers.

  • Discovery and solution architecture, or development only
  • Automated testing, code review and quality assurance
  • Deployment, hosting set-up, and the first weeks of production support
  • Documentation, and whether you receive the source code and own it outright
  • What happens, and what it costs, when the scope changes

The costs after launch

Software keeps costing money after it goes live: hosting, third-party licences and APIs, security updates, monitoring, and the improvements users ask for once they depend on it. Budget for them from the start rather than discovering them in the first year.

Reliability belongs in that budget too. How much to spend on redundancy, backups and recovery is a business decision, and we set out a way to make it in building resilient tech infrastructure.

Getting an estimate you can rely on

The most useful thing to bring to a first conversation is not a feature list. It is a plain description of the process the software should support, the systems it has to work with, who will use it, and the date that matters. That is enough for an experienced team to find the expensive unknowns and give you a range with its assumptions written down.

For a sense of scale, a batch document generation tool is a focused build, while replacing a legacy ERP and invoicing system is a platform programme. For a written estimate on your own project, start from our custom software development, AI development and automation or product engineering pages - each one ends in a free estimate request.
